Frequently asked questions.
What should I bring?
The islands are warm and very casual. Since you will be aboard or diving most of the time we
suggest only shorts and shirts, toiletries, sandals, suntan lotion, hat, sunglasses and a
windbreaker. Winter (NOV thru MARCH) bring a foul weather suit and a couple of sweaters.
(Just in case!). As for dive gear, do bring mask, snorkel, fins, BC, Reg., etc. Please pack
everything in soft luggage only.
How much space onboard do I have?
Space aboard any boat is limited. However bearing in mind the above suggested items, you
should have no trouble storing your belongings.
Do I need a passport?
American or Canadian citizens need only bring proof of citizenship such as a birth certificate and
a picture ID. All others must have a current passport.
How do I find your charter plane in Fort Lauderdale?
Prior to flying to Fort Lauderdale, we will give you an travel schedule which will suggest that
everyone meets in the main restaurant, where our pilot usually collects everyone.
What about being seasick?
We carry the appropriate medicines aboard for most medical problems of a first aid nature. We
also carry first aid oxygen on board.
Do I need a wetsuit?
A full wetsuit is recommended from December thru March. A Shorty in April and October. Low
Water temperature is 72 in Jan - Feb, while low air temp is 70 - 80. Hottest months are May
thru October with water between 77 - 85 and air at 80 - 90.
Do you have an air compressor on board?
Yes we do, but as yet we cannot facilitate Nitrox refills aboard ship. (It is possible to pre-arrange
Nitrox for specific group requests, there is an extra charge for this service). Don't forget
that we include tanks and weights.
I do not scuba dive, can I come as well?
By all means do come along. There is lots to do such as sunbathing, swimming, snorkeling,
fishing, beach combing, island exploring, and photography. (or just plain relaxing).
Do you offer dive insurance.
No we do not. Howsever we highly recommend that you participate in a professional dive
organization insurance scheme such as PADI or DAN. For example the DAN insurance scheme
(three levels), the best which costs just $99.00 for a whole year. This insurance covers every
diving emergency including air ambulance costs. We can provide PADI or DAN contact info. or
we can arrange it for you.
How many dives per day?
Normally four or five dives weather permitting. This includes any night dives.
What dive gear should I bring?
Snorkel, Mask, Fins, BC, Regulator, Underwater Watch, all appropriate console gauges. If you
are planning night dives, a dive light and a supply of cyalume sticks. We provide tanks and
weights, other gear is available on rental.
What are the meals like?
You receive three meals a day (standard American foods with some Bahamian dishes for those
who like to try exotic foods). Also there are plenty of fresh fruit, snacks and beverages available
between meals.
Sample Menu Items: Spring vegetable frittata, rolled ham and gruyere omelet, chicken salad with
creamy mango dressing and fresh bread, tomato and thyme quiche with fresh fruit platter,
prosciutto crepe cake, creamy scallop soup, shrimp risotto with orange, shrimp cruzan with pasta
and spinach, pear and asparagus salad, salmon with herb and shrimp sauce and jasmine rice,
cornish hens with apricot-pecan stuffing, velvet cream pie, decadent chocolate, honeymoon
cake, rum chiquitas.
What entertainment is on board?
We have television, a stereo system, 100 movie library, and an assortment of reading material
and board games. You may also help sail when we move to a new diving location. We have a six
person inflatable with motor for shore trips and two underwater scooters for diving use.
